Luke 11:8-13 Shameless Audacity
In v.8 Jesus talks about “persistence” or “shameless audacity” of asking a friend for bread in the middle of the night.
“I tell you, even though he will not get up and give you the bread because of friendship, yet because of your shameless audacity he will surely get up and give you as much as you need.” He goes on to say:
“So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
“Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”
Going before the Father
- This whole section of Scripture is about prayer. Let us pray for all the believers in Tunisia that they will grow deeper in their prayer life. That they will go before the Father more and more, taking the needs of people and Tunisia before Him. May they learn about seeking the Father through prayer.
- Back in v.1 the disciples say to Jesus, “Lord, teach us to pray.” The disciples saw something unique about the way He approached the Father. Pray that same wonder will move us deeper in prayer.
- Pray over the believers in Tunisia they they would grow in shameless audacity as they seek Him. May this year take them deeper in HIM.
